In Himachal Pradesh’s tribal district Lahaul Spiti, tourists stranded for 4 days were rescued. Lahaul Police and BRO team carried out operation in zero degree Celsius temperature to rescue around 100 stranded people. After the rescue, 7 vehicles that were taken out through the Aton Tunnel collided with each other due to the snow lying on the road. However, he has been safely taken to Manali. On the other hand, the period of snowfall is continuing in the state.
The vehicles were damaged due to the collision near the Atal Tunnel, although the occupants of these vehicles are safe. At the same time, the police vehicle also got stuck in the middle. At present, tourists trapped in snowfall have been rescued and taken to Manali. Snowfall is still continuing in the area. Now the icebergs have started falling from the mountains.

Rescue operation carried out in zero temperature
The Atal Tunnel road was closed for traffic on January 4 and 5 due to snowfall in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti. Due to this, the tourists who came to visit got stuck in the valley itself. These tourists have been rescued and brought to Manali. Lahaul Spiti district administration and BRO carried out rescue operation on Friday in zero degree Celsius temperature.
The road to the valley was restored for 4 by 4 vehicles during the day. Earlier, tourists stranded in the valley were taken by these vehicles to the South Portal of Atal Tunnel. Due to not being able to restore the route from Manali side in time, it stopped there. Tried to send 4 by 4 vehicles from Manali side on the way to rescue the tourists. After this 90 tourists from outside states were taken to Manali.

Police and BRO personnel cleared the snow from Belcha and pulled out the vehicles after the vehicles pulled out through the Aton Tunnel collided with each other. The tourists stranded amidst snowfall have been safely evacuated to Manali. SDM and DSP Lahaul reached the spot. SDM Keylong Priya Nagta, DSP Lahaul Spiti rescued the tourists. The Lahaul Spiti administration claims that till late night all the tourists have been safely evacuated from the valley.

Tourists brought to Manali in 30 vehicles
30 vehicles were pressed into service to bring 90 tourists stranded in the valley to Manali. It had 15 vehicles 4 by 4 and 15 vehicles 2 by 2. Superintendent of Police Lahaul Spiti Manav Verma said that out of 90 tourists rescued from the valley, 76 men, 8 women and 6 children were from Shimla, they have been safely evacuated from the valley.
With the clear weather, the risk of falling icebergs has also increased.
