IHU covid variant detailed information in Hindi | What is the IHU variant? – New ‘IHU’ B.1.640.2 COVID-19 coronavirus variant found in France.

One thing that is clear about the COVID-19 coronavirus may change. and mutate. and mutate. It should therefore not be surprising that another new variant has been detected in France containing 46 mutations and 37 deletions in its genetic code, many of which affect the spike protein.

What is the IHU variant?

This version’s name is currently B.1.640.2, which may sound like the beginning of a phone number in New Jersey. It is also tentatively called “variant IHU” because a team from the Mediterranean Infection University Hospital Institute (IHU) in Marseille, France, was the first to report the variant in a pre-print uploaded to MedRxiv on 29 December.

IHU Variant – IHU Full Form?

Known as ‘IHU’, version B.1.640.2 has been reported by researchers from the Institute IHU Mediterranee Infection in at least 12 cases, and has been linked to travel to the African country of Cameroon.

So does this mean that the sky is falling? That you should start running outside with your arms in the air? That you’ll be wearing a face mask forever? That you should add to the 30,182 rolls of toilet paper in your bedroom? That this pandemic will last forever? Umm, no, no, no, probably not, and heck no.

And, no, the “IHU” version isn’t for the “I hate you” version:

It is not yet clear whether this B.1.640.2 version will be that much trouble or something like the Delta and Omicron variants. Before the World Health Organization (WHO) serves up some pie and gives this B.1.640.2 variant a new Greek letter name, there must be evidence that this version is somehow more permeable to the severe COVID- 19, or more capable of evading existing immune defenses than previous versions.

So far there are no clear indications that either of these could be the case. Remember different doesn’t necessarily mean worse. Still, this new version is worth taking a closer look at.

The “IHU version” can’t even be newer than the Omicron version. The first reported case was detected in mid-November 2021. This may contain prior reports of the Omicron edition spreading to South Africa, which I covered for Forbes in late November. A man living in southeastern France had returned home from a trip to Cameroon. Two days later he began to experience mild respiratory symptoms.

The next day, the person, who had already been vaccinated against COVID-19, was tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). That nasopharyngeal sample came back positive and was eventually found to harbor the B.1.640.2 variant. Since then, at least 11 others in the same vicinity have tested positive for version b.1.640.2.

In pre-print, the IUH team (consisting of Philippe Colson, Jeremy Delors, Emilie Burrell, Jordan Dahan, Agnes Jouffret, Florence Fenoller, Noura Yahi, Jacques Fantini, Bernard La Scola and Didier Raoult) indicated that this edition has 46 . Nucleotide substitutions and 37 deletions.

What is a Nucleotide? Well, it’s not some kind of radioactive tide pod. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) defines a nucleotide as the “basic building block of nucleic acids”. The genetic material of viruses consists of many different nucleotides held together in a chain called ribonucleic acid (RNA). Three consecutive nucleotides in this chain are called a codon. And guess what this codon can do? It can “code on” amino acids. Each triplet of a nucleotide can code for the formation of a particular amino acid. Amino acids in turn are the building blocks of proteins. Therefore, if you mess with the RNA by removing nucleotides or swapping in new ones, you can affect the amino acids used to make different proteins.

The nucleotide change in this so-called “variant IHU” resulted in the destruction of 30 amino acid switches and 12 amino acids in various virus proteins. This includes 14 amino acids in the virus’s spike protein being replaced, including N501Y and E484K, and nine being deleted. Any change in the spike protein will catch the attention of scientists, such as when your significant other suddenly buys a whole new wardrobe and starts showering more often.

This is because the spike protein plays several important roles. As you know, the spike protein lines the surface of SARS-CoV-2, making the virus look like a pointed massage ball or one of those messes used in BDSM, not that you know anything about it. Wouldn’t even know. Since the virus uses its spike proteins such as gummy little hands to try and enter your cells, changes in the spike proteins can potentially affect the virus’s ability to infect your cells.

In addition, altering the spike protein may affect your immune system’s ability to recognize and defend against the virus. After all, Pfizer-BioNtech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and Astra-Zeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccines work by causing your cells to produce spike proteins, your immune system seeing these spike proteins, and specifically Builds protection against them. Spike protein. A virus with a different enough spike protein may become less recognized by your immune system.

Of course, take everything said in the pre-print with a red berry full of salt. A pre-print isn’t a peer-reviewed publication in a reputable scientific journal, like some dudes’ YouTube channel isn’t the same as a network TV show.

Again, treat any such changes in spike proteins as you would major changes in your significant other’s clothing or hygiene habits. Don’t jump to conclusions until you see what it means. Mutations can make little difference, make the virus weaker, or make the virus stronger in different ways. It is not yet clear what this B.1.640.2 set of mutations may do.

This is why the WHO has not yet considered this IHU variant of interest, a variant of concern, or even a variant under investigation. For now, let’s call it we-don’t-know-what-it-means-because-there-not-be-enough-data-and-study-now-tell-please-don’t-jump-to-conclusions. The pre-print stated that “it is too early to speculate on the virological, epidemiological or clinical features of this IHU edition on the basis of these 12 cases.

Twelve may be enough for a box of donuts, but it is not enough patients to determine with certainty how contagious the virus may be or how likely COVID-19 is to have more serious consequences. All will just have to wait for it, wait for it, wait for more details about this variant.

B.1.640.2 Another reminder that SARS-CoV-2 will continue to change. As I’ve written before for Forbes, the virus photocopies your butt like a drunk person. Every time the virus reproduces itself, it can make mistakes that result in mutations. Therefore, as long as the virus continues to spread and reproduce, mutations will continue to occur, and new forms will continue to emerge. Many of these variants will not be any stronger than the current circulating version of SARS-CoV-2. From time to time however a more permeable or more toxic form may emerge. Which is why the Omicron and Delta variants weren’t really a surprise to anyone.

However, this should not change the outlook towards the pandemic. As more and more people around the world get vaccinated by introducing their immune systems to the virus, SARS-CoV-2 will be less able to harm everyone. Over time, your immune system will have gone from that virgin on the first date it would have gone in 2020 to a more discerning, more experienced dater who can better spot trouble early on, no matter what. That’s how much the virus changes its spike wardrobe.
