Ban on physical election rallies, road shows, voting in 7 phases in 5 states, read where and when voting will take place

Assembly Elections 2022: The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the upcoming assembly elections in five states in the year 2022. Polling will be held in seven phases in all the five states- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur. This time, for the first time, the Commission has banned physical election meetings, rallies and padyatras. However, this ban will be till January 15. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra, along with the officials of the Election Commission, announced the election dates in a press conference.

As elections are approaching, all parties, including Congress and AAP, have shifted their rallies to online platforms. The Election Commission on Thursday held several meetings with the Union Health Secretary and experts on ways to conduct elections in line with the Covid-19 protocol.

Assembly Elections 2022 LIVE Updates:

Counting of votes for assembly elections in 5 states will be held on March 10: Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra

Voting for Manipur Assembly elections will be held in two phases on February 27 and March 3: Election Commission

Polling for Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 14: Election Commission

– Voting for the second phase of the UP assembly elections on February 14: Election Commission

– Voting in 7 phases in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 to March 7; Polling in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa on February 14 and Manipur on February 27 and March 3; Counting of votes on March 10: Election Commission

Elections to all 5 states will be held in 7 phases: Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra

No roadshow, padyatra, cycle rally, bike rally and procession will be allowed till January 15, 2022. Election Commission will review the situation and new instructions will be issued later: Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra

No physical rally will be allowed to political parties or candidates or any other group associated with the election till January 15. Election Commission will review the situation after this date and accordingly further instructions will be issued: CEC Sushil Chandra

The Election Commission has mandated that at least one polling station in each assembly constituency shall be exclusively managed by women. Our officers have identified much more than this. Assembly has 690 seats, but we are making 1620 such polling stations: CEC Sushil Chandra
