COVID-19 cases rising, but hospitalisations, oxygen demand low: Maharashtra Health Minister

Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the need for hospitalization and oxygen support was low, state health minister Rajesh Tope Said in Jalna on Saturday.

He said the state task force and health department had given their assessment of the COVID-19 situation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who would decide on the extent of restrictions etc.

He said 41,000 cases were detected in the state on Friday, although there was no increase in the Omicron tally.

“People with cough, fever etc, including children, should get themselves tested. Senior citizens and frontline health workers with comorbidities should go for precaution Commentary dose, for which the campaign will start from January 10,” the minister said.
