There is no complete lockdown in Kerala yet, says Health Minister

In-spite of this Rising number of COVID-19 cases and its facelift Omicron in the state, Health Minister Veena George Said on Saturday that as of now, there were no plans from Kerala Government should implement complete lockdown. The minister said that the complete lockdown will affect normal life in the state and urged people to remain vigilant.

He told the media, “The economic activities in our state and of our people cannot be disrupted now. We should work together to avoid complete shutdown in the state. Right now we are not planning any lockdown.”

The minister said the quarantine protocol for those coming from abroad was decided based on the directions issued by the central government.

After almost a month, the number of COVID-19 cases in Kerala crossed 5,000 yesterday. On Friday, 5,296 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the state and today the number has increased to 5,944.
