1. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra said, “Rally and road shows will be banned in all 5 states till January 15. There will be no padyatra, cycle or any vehicle travel. 4. On the day of polling, the polling booth does not attract much crowd, so the polling timing will be increased by one hour. This will reduce the crowd at the polling booth.

5. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra said, online nomination facility will be given to the candidates so that the crowd in the election office is minimized and the corona rules are ensured properly.

6. The Election Commission has banned election rallies and road shows for a week before the assembly elections. The Chief Election Commissioner will review the situation again on January 15. If the cases of corona increase further in these 5 states, then the challenges of the Election Commission can be bigger. Programs for campaigning will be allowed only after further review of the situation.

7. There will be no meeting between eight in the night and in the morning. There will be no street gatherings on public roads. No victory processions will be taken out after the election results.

8. Giving cognizance of flouting of Corona rules in Bengal elections, Chandra said that all the states will have to give an affidavit that they will follow all the guidelines. Those not following the Covid guidelines will be liable for legal action.

9. Voting will be held in 690 assembly seats in five states, in which there are more than 18.34 crore voters. Out of these 18.34 crore voters, 8.55 crore are women voters. 2,15,368 polling stations will be set up by the Election Commission.

10. The Election Commission also said that all the candidates with criminal background will have to publish the information about the cases against them in the newspaper thrice. It will be mandatory for political parties to give information about the cases of their party’s candidates on their website.
