Case registered against five people who put up communal posters on ghats, no arrest

Last week, posters put up by VHP and Bajrang Dal at several ghats, including Panchganga, Dashashwamedh, Assi and Manikarnika in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency, warned non-Hindus to stay away from the Ganga Ghats. The VHP claims that it has expelled two members of the organization who put up the posters.

New Delhi: Police have registered an FIR against five people for allegedly pasting posters on various ghats of Ganga in Varanasi warning non-Hindus to stay away from the ghats.

It is noteworthy that last week, alleged members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal had pasted posters with the words ‘Entry of non-Hindus prohibited’ on the ghats. While putting up these posters, their photos and videos were also put on social media.

Of these five people, two belonged to the VHP and the Bajrang Dal. He was also seen admitting this in the video. Police have identified both as Rajan Gupta and Nikhil Tripathi ‘Rudra’.

the wire In its report, VHP’s Varanasi wing secretary Rajan Gupta had said in a video, ‘This poster is not an appeal, but a warning to those who do not follow Sanatan Dharma’.

Describing the ghats and temples of Kashi as symbols of Hindu religion and culture, Gupta had said, “People of other religions should stay away from here.”

He had also said that if people coming here have faith in Hinduism then they are welcome, and if they do not have faith then we will drive them away from here.

At the same time, Bajrang Dal’s Varanasi convener Nikhil Tripathi ‘Rudra’ had said, ‘Ganga is our mother, it is not a picnic spot. Those who consider Ganga a picnic spot, they should stay away from it. Bajrang Dal will do so if he himself does not stay away.

According to the Indian Express, the VHP said on Sunday that both the members have been thrown out of the organisation.

On Sunday, Co-Commissioner of Police (Bhelupur) Praveen Kumar Singh told this newspaper that investigators are trying to ascertain the identity of others involved in the case.

Bhelupur police station in-charge Ramakant Dubey said the police have served notices to Gupta and Tripathi and ordered them to deposit a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh each for the purpose of maintaining peace.

VHP’s Kashi (Varanasi) province minister Anand Singh said that Gupta and Tripathi have been removed from the organization and all responsibilities have been taken away from them.

Local Congress leader Raghavendra Choubey the wire Told that his party had informed the police about this riotous act of the right wing. He said, ‘I had called the DGP of Varuna zone and informed about this act of spreading hatred.’

Expressing concern over the incident, he said, ‘How can someone divide Varanasi in the name of religion for political gains?’

Let us tell you that Varanasi is the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this act has happened just before the assembly elections.

It is to be known that from February 10 to March 7, polling will be held in the state in seven phases and the results will be declared on March 10.
