The State High Court has currently stayed its decision to include B.Ed degree holders for the posts of JBT. A division bench of Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Satyen Vaidya, after preliminary hearing of the review petition filed by the government, passed orders to stay the execution of the decision.
On 26 November, the High Court, while ruling on JBT recruitment matters, clarified that the rules laid down by the NCTE for the recruitment of teachers are applicable to the Department of Elementary Education as well as to the Subordinate Staff Selection Commission.
The court, while accepting various petitions, had also ordered the state government to make necessary amendments in the rules for the recruitment of JBT posts as per the notification of NCTE dated June 28, 2018. The decision of the court also made B.Ed degree holders eligible for JBT posts, but after the stay of this decision, B.Ed degree holders were again out of the race for these posts.
BEd degree holders eligible for the posts of JBT as per NCTE rules
It is noteworthy that the petitioners holding B.Ed degree had demanded that they should also be considered for JBT recruitment as they are B.Ed degree holders as well as TET passed and are eligible to become JBT teachers as per NCTE rules. It should be known that under the rules of NCTE, BEd degree holders have been made conditionally eligible for recruitment to the posts of JBT, so they will have to do an additional bridge course of 6 months after getting the appointment.
