Thought for the day: Jeremiah protests: I’m too young!

Ah, Lord my God, I can not speak well, I’m still too young. (Jeremiah 1: 6)

Jeremiah walks with us for a while.

When the Lord called me, I was stuck on all fours. I’m too young! I do not know what to say! The Lord’s answer took my breath away. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; “Before you were born, I dedicated you to Me and appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

A Jewish legend tells that Jeremiah was already born circumcised and that the baby immediately started addressing his mother about her sins. When she protested, his answer was: “I’m not talking about Mom. I’m talking about Mother Jerusalem! ” The story is far-fetched, but what is true is that the Lord has long since chosen his prophet. This is true of all of us, says Paul, long before we were born the Lord knew us and called us. “Praise be to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! He chose us in Christ even before the world was created. ” (Eph 1: 3, 4). Can you imagine it: That you are walking the path of faith today has long been established. Nothing is just by chance.

And, go Jeremiah, the pastor’s son, further, the Lord has wiped my reluctance out of the way. “You must go to whomever I send you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you. “ A difficult path awaited the young prophet. The people were often offended by what he said. His life was at stake more than once. But every step of the way, the Lord promised, He is with him.

Jesus also promised us: I am with you, always!
