Corona cases exceed 7,000 in Chile

Santiago: More than 7,000 new cases of corona were reported in Chile in the last 24 hours, which is the highest in seven months. This information was given by the Health Ministry of Chile.

The ministry said on Thursday that with the new cases, there have been a total of 1,849,465 cases of corona in the country.

According to the report of Xinhua news agency, 41 people died of corona on Thursday, taking the death toll from the epidemic to 39,331.

The ministry said, on Wednesday, the corona positivity rate has increased to 6.9 percent nationwide and 7.39 percent in the Santiago metropolitan area. So there is no positivity rate less than 2 percent in any of the 16 regions of Chile.

Chile was reporting an average of 2,500 corona cases daily as of December 2021, but in January, the Omicron variant of the coronavirus caused 5,000 cases per day.

Meanwhile, Chile has implemented a second booster dose of the vaccine against Corona in January.
