It was on December 7 that the third doses of AstraZeneca began to be applied in Chiapas, Mexico City, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Sinaloa and Yucatan, and one of the first people to receive it was President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

And although the authorities provide a daily report on the progress of COVID vaccination in Mexico, there is no more detailed breakdown of the application of the third doses.

The data shared on Friday by Ruy López Ridaura, general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control (Cenaprece), allows us to know how the process is progressing.

Coverage rates

The official pointed out that so far, 54 percent of older adults They have a booster dose. This group received a dose of AstraZeneca, regardless of whether their previous regimen had been completed with the biological from another pharmaceutical company.

As far as health personnel are concerned, the reinforcement application rate is at 45 percent, same percentage among workers in the education sector. The vaccination of this last group is being reinforced with the Moderna biological.
