In the year 2020, 282 and in 2021, 231 girls have gone missing. Despite the efforts of the police, no clue of 92 girls has been found so far. More than half of them are minors. In front of the police’s negligence in finding clues of minor girls, the family loses courage. While DSP Yashpal Khatana says that the clues are not found when the family members hide the facts.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, in 99 percent of cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Harassment Act (POCSO) during the Corona period, girls have become victims of oppressors. In the highest number of 14,092 cases registered under POCSO, the victim was a teenager in the age group of 16-18 years. After this 10,949 victims were in the age group of 12 to 16 years.

30 unfinished search

Both boys and girls can be easy victims of such crimes, but the NCRB data clearly shows that girls are the most victims of sexual crimes in all age groups. In the year 2020, 282 missing girls cases were registered inside Palwal district. Of these, the police have recovered 252, while 30 have not been found yet.

No clue of 62 missing in 2021

Similarly, in the year 2021, 231 girls went missing in Palwal, out of which 161 were recovered by the police and 62 were not found. This cycle is not ending but continues continuously. Day by day the information of missing girls is becoming a cause of trouble for the police. Sexual offenses are being found to be behind most of the girls’ disappearances.

DSP Palwal Yashpal Khatana says that after the disappearance of the girls, the family members are reluctant to give complete and correct information to the police.  The perpetrators of the crime get the benefit of this.  They get out of reach and thus find it difficult to catch them.

Police says – ran away with a friend

When talking to a victim, he told that his girl is a minor and it has been more than three months since she went missing. Tired of being bitten by the police. Now defeated and sat at his home. Similarly, another person told that his girl had gone to college to study and it has been four months and till today she has not returned. When she goes to the police, she says that she must have run away with her friend.

DSP said – give the right information to the family

DSP Yashpal Khatana says that the police is fully aware of the safety of the girls. Girls are given safety tips by going to schools and colleges. The families are told not to be negligent in the safety of the girls and in case of any kind of incident, immediately inform the police. The police makes clues on the basis of mobile and handing over the missing girls to the relatives. The family should not hide anything.
