In a statement on micro-blogging site Twitter, Virat Kohli announced his resignation from the Test captaincy.

It is to be noted that this decision of Virat Kohli came to light at a time when the Indian team suffered a 1-2 defeat in the Test series against South Africa.

In his statement, Virat Kohli said that he did his job very honestly and left no stone unturned.

In his message, Virat Kohli thanked the BCCI and his players for supporting him as captain.
