Murder of BJP youth leader: two suspects arrested

Bengaluru: Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha Samiti member Praveen Nettar in Dakshina Kannada. Both suspects are members of the People’s Front of India (PFI). This information was given by the police.

BJP Yuva Morcha district committee member Praveen Nettar was stabbed to death by three men on bicycles outside his store in Bellary on Tuesday night. He was killed on his way home after closing the store. After the killing, tension erupted in many places in Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday. There were incidents of stone throwing by protesters and lathi charges by police.

In this case, the Bellary police formed teams and launched a search operation. Zakir (29) and Mohammad Shafiq (27) from the PFI organization were arrested. Both are from Bellary and police are investigating whether they are connected to the case. Additional Police Director General Alok Kumar said they would be brought to court and demanded their custody for full investigation.

All programs canceled by Chief Minister

In Karnataka, many events were held across the state to mark Basavaraj Bommai’s first anniversary as chief minister on Wednesday. But after the murder incident, Bommai canceled all programs. Bommai called a press conference at his residence on Wednesday evening and BJP National Chairman J.P. He informed that the mega Janotsav rally in Doddballapur which Nadda was to attend has been cancelled. He also said that the government has decided to set up a specially trained commando force in the state to eradicate the forces involved in anti-national and terrorist activities.
