The 2022 Commonwealth Games have started in Birmingham. The first day of the tournament was good for the Indian players. The Indian women’s hockey team beat Ghana 5-0. After that, the badminton team also showed their ‘Jalwa’. The Indian badminton team beat Pakistan 5-0 in a mixed team event. Indian badminton players have performed brilliantly in matches played at the National Exhibition center at Alexander Stadium.
In the singles match, India’s PV Sindhu defeated Pakistan’s Mahur Shehzad 21-7, 21-6. Then, the Indians Gayatri Gopichand and Trisha Jolly played brilliantly in women’s doubles. Both beat the duo of Mahur Shehzad and Gajala Siddiqui 21-4, 21-5.
In men’s doubles, Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty beat Muhammad Irfan Saeed Bhati and Murad Ali 21-12, 21-9. In mixed doubles, Indian pair Ashwini Ponnappa and B Sumit Reddy beat Pakistan’s Mohammad Bhati and Gajala Siddiqui.

Earlier, in men’s singles, India’s Kidambi Srikanth defeated Pakistan’s Mohammad Ali 21-7, 21-12 in consecutive matches. If there is a game in any tournament between India and Pakistan, there is a lot of pressure on the players. But, Indian badminton players handled this pressure well.
