Commonwealth Games 2022, Gururaja Poojary CWG 2022: Bharatala Second Medal, Gururaja Poojary Bronze Medal

Birmingham: India won the second medal on day two of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. India has opened its account in this competition with weightlifting. The country got another medal in this competition. This time, Indian Gururaja Poojary won the bronze medal. 29-year-old weightlifter Gururaja Puraji won the bronze medal in the men’s 61kg category (Commonwealth Games 2022).

Gururaja Pujari scored 118 in the snatch. He scored 158 in the clean and jerk. That means he scored 269 in total. It is the second Commonwealth medal for Gururaja Puraji, 29. Gururaja won a silver medal at the 2018 Gold Coast Games.

Earlier, Sanket Sargar of Sangli won the first medal for India. Sanket won the silver medal in the 55 kg category. Sanket Sargar gave his full strength in 6 attempts over two sets and lifted a total weight of 228 kg to win the silver medal. He just missed out on a gold medal. His face showed sadness for losing the gold medal, but at the same time he was proud to have won the silver medal.
