Maharashtra will have no money without Gujaratis, Rajasthanis, says Governor General

This time, the governor’s comments are loud. “If Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are taken out of the state, there will be no more money in the state.” Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s comments sparked heated debate in Maratha Bhum. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut alleged that the governor insulted the Marathi people with his comments. The Sarab Congress and the CPN condemn the governor’s remarks.

What exactly did Koshiari say? “Sometimes I tell the people of Maharashtra that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are expelled from here, you will have no more money,” Maharashtra’s governor said at an event in Andheri, Mumbai. No matter how much you call Mumbai a commercial capital, if these people (gujarati and rajasthani) are not here, it can no longer be called a commercial capital.

Shiv Sena is furious with the Governor’s comments. Sena MP Sanjay Raut condemned Koshyari’s comments. Raut claimed the governor had insulted the hard-working Marathi people. “Marathis are insulted after BJP-sponsored CM came to power,” he tweeted. Another Sena MK, Priyanka Chaturvedi, also strongly condemned the governor’s comments. Chaturvedi also felt the governor should apologize for his comments.

On the other hand, we learn that the former chief minister and chairman of the Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray, will also hold a press conference to protest against the governor’s remarks. The NCP of Sharad Pawar’s party also advised Governor Koshyari to be more careful before making a statement. Congress has also been vocal in protesting the governor’s comments.

Maharashtra Congress Leader Sachin Sawant said: “It is terrible that the governor of a state insults the people of that state. During his tenure, the governor’s office was disgraced and the political tradition of the state deteriorated, he continued to disrespect Maharashtra.”
