Security Council passes resolution on aid to Afghanistan

The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution on humanitarian aid to Afghanistan submitted by the United States.

According to the news agency, the resolution passed states that the payment of funds, other financial assets or economic resources and the timely provision of aid or necessary goods and services are allowed.

The resolution states that such assistance is related to basic humanitarian needs in Afghanistan and does not violate sanctions on Taliban-linked entities.

US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West has confirmed that the adoption of the resolution is a message from the international community that we are united in helping the Afghan people.

Thomas West said the resolution was introduced by the United States in the UN Security Council.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the effects of the OIC conference have begun to come.

He said the Security Council resolution was a significant step forward, without which the door to help the Afghan people could not be opened.
