Talented cricketer Shubman Gill said that he would always like to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) if given an option. Gill is currently recovering from an injury that ruled him out of the South Africa tour.
The KKR management has released him while retaining Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakraborty. At one point of time he was being seen as the future captain of KKR. The 22-year-old Indian opener was among the players released by the team like Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana.
“The kind of relationship I have with the KKR franchise is really special to me,” Gill said in the short film titled ‘Love, Faith and Beyond’.
He said, “Once you join a franchise, you want to be associated with it and always play for it. If I get an option to play for KKR, I would always like to play for it. “
Before IPL 2018, Gill was bought for Rs 1.8 crore. He had scored 203 runs in 13 matches in the very first season at a strike rate of 146.04. But later his strike rate dropped, which led to criticism for his run-getting pace.
NDTL gets recognition from WADA again, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur informed
He has so far added 1417 runs in 58 matches for the franchise at a strike rate of 123. KKR MD and CEO Venky Mysore said, “There are so many players you want to retain but it doesn’t work like that.”
