About 27 patients who underwent cataract operation at SBD District Hospital in Saharanpur have lost their eyesight. There has been a stir after the matter came to light. All the patients are now getting their treatment in different hospitals. Eight patients have been sent to Chandigarh PGI for treatment and rest of the patients are undergoing treatment in other hospitals.

In this case, activists of Hindu organizations created a ruckus in the district hospital and accused the doctor of negligence. He alleges that due to the negligence of the doctors, people have lost their eyesight.

On December 2 in the district hospital, an eye surgeon had done 27 cataract operations and installed lenses. Patients from different localities and most of the villages had gone to their respective homes after the operation. After a few days, complaints of not seeing in one eye started coming. The relatives were reaching the district hospital with the patients and the doctors used to send them back after giving medicines.

After the cataract operation, the eye got swollen and started bleeding.

Relatives say that even after taking medicine, the patients did not get relief. Due to the swelling in the eyes, the eyes stopped seeing. Later, the blood also started coming out. The relatives showed the patients to private hospitals, then they also raised their hands.

Lenses are of light quality

In the district hospital, lenses up to Rs 250 come to be inserted in the eyes of the patients. Due to the light quality of the lens, many times patients lose their eyesight. Due to government lenses and free operation, poor people reach for their treatment.

People of Hindu organization demanded action

After the issue was raised by Hindu organizations, the CMO ordered an inquiry.

After this, the CMO has assured to form a committee and conduct an inquiry. He said that a complaint has been made by the people of the Hindu organization. The matter will be investigated.
