Mumbai: The Mumbai Police Cyber Cell on Monday arrested a 21-year-old youth in connection with the ‘Bully Bye’ app case in Bangalore. Giving information, the police said that on Monday, Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home Satej Patil had directed them to take action against the developers of the “Bully Bai” app, after which this is the first major action in this case. The arrested accused has been identified as an engineering student.
At the same time, only after the arrest in this case, Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home Satej Patil tweeted and said that
‘Mumbai Police has got a huge success. While we cannot divulge details at this time as it may hamper the ongoing investigation, I would like to assure all the victims that we are in constant pursuit of the perpetrators and they will soon face the law’.
According to the information, the identity of the accused has not been disclosed. It is being told that the accused student was running an objectionable Twitter handle and was uploading the content on it.

In fact, on Saturday, a female journalist shared her picture being sold on the ‘Bully Bai’ app as ‘Deal of the Day’. “It is very sad that as a Muslim woman you have to start your new year with this fear and hatred,” the journalist said on Twitter. Hundreds of Muslim women were listed for “auction” on this app, whose photos were tampered with without permission.
