Punjab Pradesh Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu has tried to challenge the Aam Aadmi Party by making many big announcements. But where questions have been raised within the party regarding Sidhu’s announcements, he has also got support.
Sidhu said in an election meeting on Monday that every woman in Punjab would be given Rs 2000 every month and the government would also provide 8 gas cylinders in a year. Sidhu also said that the college going girls will be given electric scooty.
Let us inform that a few days ago, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal had said that if his party forms the government in Punjab, then every woman will be given 1000 rupees every month.
But this announcement of Sidhu has been questioned by the cabinet minister Rana Gurjit Singh in the Punjab government. Rana Gurjit Singh has said that the President of the State Congress has a big responsibility. He said that whether these announcements of Sidhu are part of the Congress manifesto is yet to be decided and people are misled by this.
On the other hand, Sidhu has got the support of former Punjab Congress President Shamsher Singh Dullons. The couple told reporters that Navjot Singh Sidhu is speaking against the mafia but he is not being heard.
Shamsher Singh said that there is no effect of what Sidhu has said.
Let us inform that Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Food Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu had targeted Sidhu. Randhawa had offered to leave the Home Ministry and said that it is not the culture of Congress to announce candidates in rallies. Bharat Bhushan Ashu had also said that Sidhu should learn the culture of Congress.
Sidhu has been at loggerheads with former state Congress president Sunil Jakhar and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
