- Assembly sessions of five states are being completed this year
- The date of elections may be announced between January 10 and 13.
- BJP wants to start the elections in the state from eastern UP
The churning of the Election Commission is going on regarding the dates for the elections to be held in five states. The assembly sessions of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur are being completed this year, for which the dates for the elections are yet to be announced. If sources are to be believed, the Election Commission may announce the dates for the assembly elections to be held in these states from January 10 to 13.
At the same time, the demand for starting the phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh from eastern UP instead of western UP is increasing. BJP leaders believe that this time UP elections should start from eastern UP instead of western UP. In this regard, BJP leaders had requested in the meeting of the Election Commission during the Lucknow tour that the election should start from Purva UP. In 2017 the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections were held in seven phases and they started from West UP.
